Third Class Cross, in silver gilt and enamels, unmarked, of very good quality manufacture, 42mm x 70.5mm, mounted on a narrow, short, narrow length of original ribbon, apparently as worn on tunic, minor chipping to blue enamels, contact marks, very fine. The Order of the Cross of Takovo was instituted in 1865 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Second Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire, which had started in Takovo, Serbia. The decree that established the Cross and Silver Medal was signed on 22 May 1865 by Prince Michael Obrenovich. The Order was suppressed in 1903.
