Adolf Hitler’s original signature on the presentation photo for 1936 Olympic (German) winners. Superb studio photo with dedication “Dem Olympia Sieger Heinz Brandt….”. Measures 24x30cm. Every German Olympic medallist at 1936 Berlin Olympic received such a signed photo from Hitler. In very fine condition, and very rare.

Group of souvenirs belonging to Lionel Coleman, one of four Canadian bicycle riders to represent Canada at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. Lot includes: bronze lapel badge “CWA BICYCLE TEAM GERMANY 1936” measuring 13mm, pin back, unmarked, of good quality and very rare; Olympic handkerchief Coleman brought back from Germany; letter sent by Coleman to his family in Toronto from Olympic Village describing his experience (in Olympic Village envelope, postmarked); and several newspaper clippings all about Coleman’s riding achievements (including Dominion cycling Title captured at Canadian National Exhibition; another article describes Coleman as “…one of the best amateur riders ever produced in this country”). Coleman was from Hamilton and drowned aged 23 while volunteering to assist (Hamilton) harbor police “…to bring in several boats…. ripped from their moorings during the heavy gale”. Same article describes Coleman as “…the first choice for the cycling division of the Canadian Olympic Team in 1936….”.

Finland, Olympic Merit Medal. Silver medal 32mm, hallmarked on the rim. (This was not participant’s Medal but awarded to those who aided in the functioning of the Games). Extremely fine condition.
