Cross contained in an old, period frame, along with award documents. Cross in silver gilt and enamels, typical G. Lemaiter type, enamel cracks and chipping to center medallion, good/very good condition. Mounted on original ribbon. Award documents (in Serbian and French) named to Madame Maria Eberspacher Brugnoli, No. 148, dated May 9 1922. Signed by Vl. Popovitch, issued in Rome, Italy, by Royal Government of Montenegro, in exile. Very rare award, and extremely rare award document.

ORDER OF FREEDOM

This attractive Decoration of unusual design was awarded to participants of "Christmas Mutiny", an armed uprising of independence minded Montenegrians who were against new (Yugoslav) rule in Montenegro after the WW I ended. Uprising failed however and the rebels ended up on Italian soil, where this decoration was made ( by Cravanzola) and awarded to men participating in uprising. This example is mounted on authentic ribbon, and is in extremely fine condition. Scarce.

Milos Obilic Bravery Medal, in gilded bronze. Medal measures 31.3mm, die struck, cylinder suspension. Unmarked, without maker’s or designer’s markings. Most likely of Austrian manufacture (Mayer), 1860-1890 (most likely issued during Montenegro’s War of Independence period). Medal was worn, polished, rim bump and nicks, thus fair / good condition. Mounted as worn, on original ribbon, and very scarce.
