| Item M122 SOLD | Montenegro ORDER OF FREEDOM This attractive Decoration of unusual design was awarded to participants of "Christmas Mutiny", an armed uprising of independence minded Montenegrians who were against new (Yugoslav) rule in Montenegro after the WW I ended. Uprising failed however and the rebels ended up on Italian soil, where this decoration was made ( by Cravanzola) and awarded to men participating in uprising. This example is mounted on authentic ribbon, and is in extremely fine condition. Scarce.

Unmarked, without maker’s or designer’s markings. Most likely of Austrian manufacture (Mayer), 1860-1890 (most likely issued during Montenegro’s War of Independence period). Medal was worn, polished, rim bump and nicks, thus fair / good condition. Mounted as worn, on original ribbon, and very scarce.
