Alexandra, Princess of Denmark, Visit to London 1863, a rare and unusual commemorative breast star, 74mm, in silver, the pale-blue enamel centre with scalloped border of gold, superimposed with Prince of Wales’ feathers over reversed cypher ‘A’, the reverse plate inscribed ‘Royal Reception Committee. Daniel Cork, Esq., Dep., to commemorate the Public Entry of H.R.H. The Princess Alexandra of Denmark into the City of London, 7th March 1863’, hallmarks for London 1863, contained in its Widdowson & Veale, London fitted presentation case, nearly extremely fine and rare.

Officer’s cap badge, pre 1939 period. Finely made badge 80x75mm, in gilt bullion wire, on gray cloth backing, gilt and enameled center. Very attractive, scarce.

Star of the Order in silver, center in gold and enamels, reduced size. Privately made star, measures 50.4x50.8mm, weighs 21.8 grams. Of very fine quality manufacture, mid Nineteenth Century, nearly extremely fine condition. Attributed to King Carl XV of Sweden, 1826-1872, who was the only recipient known to wear this Order in this size. The star was in possession of "Mynthuset" in Stockholm for the first time in the early 1980’s. The company and the owner had extremely good relationships with the Royal and Noble world of Sweden. The owner of “Mynthuset” died in the mid 1980’s and the business does not exist anymore, however in their old catalogues one can see the company handled several other orders from one of the estates of Carl XV. According to the leader of “Kungl. Livrustkammeret” in Stockholm Carl XV had all his Stars made in this smaller size when he became older to keep the weight down. Further, if one compares it to the star pictured (page 60) in Lars Stevnsborgs recent book on Danish orders it is clear both were struck from the same die, although the center medallion differs (hand tooled) and the Star pictured in the book have an extra "diamond" and thus longer rays. However, one can see from the other types pictured it became fashion to have a more round shaped stars during mid-1850, thus the rays were cut off and stars thus “rounded”. Very rare.

Grand Cross Star, on cloth backing, 90x100mm. Cross embroidered in gold wire, silver and gold sequins, red colored silver ribbing, all superimposed on silver rays embroidered in silver wire and silver sequins. Superb quality star, excellent details and quality, circa 1850. Maker’s name on reverse, nearly mint condition. Very rare in this condition.

Grand Cross set of insignia, Frederik IX issue, 1947-72, comprising: Star, in silver gilt and enamels, 85mm, hallmarked “A.M.” (Michelsen) on reverse, in extremely fine condition; Grand Cross, 41x81mm, in silver gilt and enamels, hallmarked on the ring “A.M.”, mounted on a full length of original sash ribbon, extremely fine. Badge is suspended from a crown and Frederik IX Royal chipper. Of very fine quality make, excellent details and fine quality enamels. Both The Star and Cross have enamels without chipping or cracks. Contained within case of issue, marked A. MICHELSEN, however compartment housing the star is missing, otherwise case in fair/good condition.

Second Class set of insignia comprising: Star, in silver gilt and enamel, hallmarked “Michelsen” on reverse, in extremely fine condition; Commander's neck badge, in silver gilt and enamels, hallmarked on the ring, mounted on a full length of neck ribbon, extremely fine. Badge is suspended from a crown and Queen Margarethe Royal chipper. Of very fine quality make, excellent details and fine quality enamels. Both The Star and neck Badge show hardly any wear, enamels without any imperfections, in extremely fine condition. Contained within case of issue, marked A. MICHELSEN.

Medal of the Masonic Saint John's Lodge, named "Christian" in Copenhagen. This lodge was founded April 11, 1874 and named after the oldest son (later King Christian X)of the present Grand Master Crownprince Frederik (later King Frederik VIII). Medal in silver gilt, 34 x 50mm. In very good condition.
